Chapter 21 Summary (Extra Credit)

In Chapter 21 Holden is on his way back to his parents apartment, there he finds good luck and that is a substitute elevator boy to help him get to his parents apartment room. Holden gets up to the apartment room without attracting any attention, as soon as he gets up into the apartment room he See's Phoebe asleep in D.B's room, where she likes to sleep when Holden is away. So Holden decides to sneak in the room quietly and sits at the big table and Read's Phoebe's notebooks. which he gets a big kick out of it. As soon as Holden wakes up Phoebe she is thrilled to see him and Phoebe starts to talk about the Christmas play she had saw, then Phoebe tells Holden that there parents are out at a party and wont be back until late. Then Phoebe decides to be smart and ask Holden why he is home on Saturday, when he suppose to be home on Wednesday. Phoebe starts to moan that instance and started to get on Holden's case because of him getting kicked out of school and how his dad is going to "Kill Him". So than Phoebe instantly puts her head under the pillow and refuses to come out.

Chapter 20 Summary (Extra Credit)

So with Carl Luce gone, Holden turns to his drinks and starts to drink and soon later becomes drunk. Valencia, the singer who's replaced the French girls, belts out a few tunes, and Holden first gets dramatic, doing his bullet-in-the-guts routine, then a little maudlin, wanting to get a girl on the phone. He staggers out of the bar and calls Sally because he is drunk and deperet , who is surprisingly nice and patient with Holden, even though Holden had left her at the ice skating rink to find her own ride home. Holden is rambling and slurring, though, and Sally decides to hang up on Holden because he is drunk and Sally doesnt know what Holden is trying to say to her.Holden's next stop is the bathroom, where he tries to get himself sober by dunking his head in a sinkful of ice cold water. The piano player from the bar comes in, combs his hair and shakes off Holden's kiss-up compliments.The piano player tells Holden to go home, but Holden doesn't really have anywhere to go. He leaves the bar and heads in the direction of Central Park, to investigate the for traces of the ducks. The ice water obviously hasn't sobered Holden up fully. He has a terrifically hard time finding the lagoon, even though he's lived in New York all his life and knows the park like the back of his hand. He drops Phoebe's record on the way, and it had broke into little pieces. The pond is partly frozen, and although Holden does a thorough investigation, nearly falling into the water a few times, there are no ducks to be found.

Chapter 19 Summary (Extra Credit)

In chapter nineteen as Holden is on his way to Wicker Bar he thinks about Carl Luce and how all his experiences in high school, Carl Luce is three years older than Holden . Holden talks about how Carl Luce in high school use to talk about Sex to the younger kids, Holden finds Carl Luce to be amusing even though he is a big Phony. So as Holden gets to Wicker Bar Carl Luce starts to treat Holden as a coolly and the Holden starts to drill Carl Luce with some Sex questions, but Carl Luce doesn't want to get in this kind of conversation with Holden. Instead Carl Luce suggest that Holden goes and gets a Psychoanalyst, but in that moment Holden remembers that Carl Luce's father was a Psychoanalyst. Then Holden starts to wonder if whether Carl Luce's father had ever analyzed his own son, but as the conversation went on Holden started to irritated Carl Luce. So Carl Luce had been getting irritated he finally decided that he couldn't take it anymore and he just walked out of the bar with saying a word to Holden.

Chapter 18 Summary (Extra Credit)

In this chapter Holden leaves the skating rink to go down the street to a store to get a Swiss cheese sandwich because he was getting hungry. As Holden is on his way to the store he is thinking in his head about Jane and wants to call her but doesn't want to because he thinks about the incident where Jane was at the dance with another boy. But Holden couldn't take it anymore so he calls her and she doesn't answer, but then after that he decides to call a boy by the name of Carl Luce and sets and appointment to get drinks later on. So Holden goes to kill time and goes down to Radio City Orchestra and watches the performance and starts to get flashbacks about when he and Allie likes the Kettledrum player even though he is unnoticed, but they like him because he looks like he is happy doing what he is doing and taking allot of pride in joy in it. So then after the Radio City Orchestra he starts too walk down to the Wicker Bar where he is suppose to meet Carl Luce as he is headed on his way to the bar he is thinking about the movie which was about the War. Holden thinks about the Army because of the movie and how he never ever wants to go to the War because he would rather be shot or sit on a Atomic Bomb. Which i think is really stupid because i would rather go to war and fight for my country and fight for freedom instead of sit there and try to kill myself.

Chapter 16 Summary (Homework)

In chapter's 16 Holden is going home from breakfast feeling bad because he gave the nuns ten dollars and forced them to take it. But after that Holden walks down to the Broadway to buy a record for Phoebe which is called "Little Shirley Beans." Holden likes record because it is sang by a black blue's guy and he makes it sound "Raunchy" and the record reminds him of Phoebe every time he hears it or See's it. This girl Phoebe is ten years old and Holden thinks that she is a great girl because she always understands what Holden is talking about every time they talk. Then soon after that Holden See's a little boy singing in the street and it starts to cheer him up from his incident with the nuns. After seeing that little boy he wants to call Jane, but it makes no sense because he always hangs up if Jane's mother answer's the phone. Then after that happens Holden goes to buy the tickets for the movie for his date with Sally. But then he wants to go see Phoebe so he goes to the park where she always skates at on Sundays. But she wasn't there instead he met a girl and she said she new Phoebe and she said she was at the Museum. This girl had made a mistake because the sister had been to the Museum the day before. So Holden goes there because the girl doesn't worn him, and Holden talks about how every time he goes to the Museum he always changes but every thing there at the Museum all stays the same.

Chapter 15 Summary (Homework)

In chapter 15 the main character Holden checks out of the Hotel and remembers that he had forgot his bags at Grand Central Station and it had all of his belongings in it. The first thing that comes to Holden's head is how his father doesn't like when he looses things and then he becomes worried. Then Holden starts to talk about how his mother was still down after Allie died and Holden described as if she were unhealthy still and wasn't getting better after the incident. But he doesn't go and get it, he then Set's up a date to go eat breakfast with sally and he only has a little bit of money with him cause his bags where at Grand Central Station. While on this date with Sally he meets two nuns and they were telling him how they are going to teach at a school Manhattan. Then again something pops in his head and it's about how he just left his school after having a bad experience. As the conversation goes on, the nuns start to talk about romeo and juliet and then it was time for the nuns to go and as they were going Holden gives them ten dollars and forces them to take it, when the nuns had left Holden was thinking about how he only had a little bit of money and he had stressed out how he was going to pay for him and Sally's breakfast.
